Departures appear to be a recurring theme this week.

For as the saying (and Nelly Furtado song) goes, all good things must come to an end.

While a popular adaptation of a teenage comic book is getting back to work, the latest season will be be faced with the prospect of bidding some sad farewells.

Meanwhile, a superhero series, that launched an entire network of interconnected TV series, is preparing to take its final bow.

Amid all this emotional news, there are some bright spots: a new series, about two female best friends, will start shooting its first season and a horror drama is back for a second season.

So with all that said, here’s a look at just some of what’s happening in Vancouver’s screen scene this week and in the weeks to come.

Stephen Amell stars in Arrow, which embarks upon shooting its final season.

Hit teen drama series Riverdale got back on set and began production on Season 4 today (July 8) to April 4, 2020.

While the show was designed to be a subversive take on the Archie Comics, this season will involve some departures that are influenced by real-life developments.

One change is that the character of Josie, played by Ashleigh Murray, won’t be a part of Riverdale’s fourth season because she’s joined the cast of the new Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene, which is being filmed in New York City.

Meanwhile, the show will pay tribute to the late Luke Perry—who played Archie’s dad, Fred Andrews—and will address the reason for his absence, which will of course be an emotional development.

Probably the most important episode of #Riverdale we’ll do this year, if not ever. A tribute to our fallen friend. Thankful for this opportunity to honor Luke & Fred. ❤️🏆💎👨🏻‍💻 pic.twitter.com/MH7xOjNyDu
