In this week’s roundup of what’s shooting in Vancouver, there’s a Hollywood comedy coming our way just as a romcom wraps up. Erstwhile, a Hong Kong blockbuster is landing in town. And on the TV side of things, there’s something Supernatural going on with some Magicians casting some spells as well.

While he’s currently on screens at the moment in Transformers: The Last Knight, Josh Duhamel will make his directorial debut with The Buddy Games, which will shoot in Metro Vancouver from August 10 to 29.
In the comedy, a group of thirtysomethings reunite to play games involving ridiculous physical and mental challenges. Along the way, they’ll learn the true meaning of friendship—while risking their lives.
Duhamel will costar with Nick Swardson and Stephen Farrelly.

Meanwhile, some of Hong Kong’s biggest stars are descending upon our town to shoot Project Gutenberg from Thursday (July 13) to July 31.
Directed by Felix Chong (Infernal Affairs), the action blockbuster involves a Hong Kong police team—featuring Catherine Chau (Men With No Shadows) as the lead detective—chasing after a sophisticated counterfeiting operation.

When they have a gang member, played by Aaron Kwok (The Monkey King), extradited from Thailand, they begin to track down the group’s mastermind, played by Chow Yun-Fat (From Vegas to Macau).

The cast also includes Zhang Jingchu (Mission: Impossible—Rogue Nation) and Liu Kai-Chi (Weeds on Fire).
An international affair, the production will also shoot in Hong Kong and Thailand.

The day after that one starts, the romcom remake Overboard will wrap up on Friday (July 14), having started production back on May 23.

A remake of the 1987 comedy starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, this version stars Anna Faris (The House Bunny) as a single mother who convinces a wealthy Mexican playboy, played by Eugenio Derbez (Instructions Not Included), who suffers amnesia after he falls overboard (hence, the title) that he is her husband.

Moving on to the home screen, The Magiciansstarts filming Season 3 on Tuesday (July 11) and continues until December 14.
The TV series follows a group of students at the secretive Brakebills University for Magical Pedagogy who are training to become magicians.
In Season 2, the group was transported to the magical kingdom of Fillory on a quest to save magic from dying out. What will happen in Season 3? Stay tuned.

Also on the fantasy front, fans of Supernatural will be happy to know that the fantasy-horror series starts in on Season 13 on Wednesday (July 12) and continues until April 19, 2018.
The series had only wrapped up production on Season 12 in April but they’re already getting back into the saddle.
