Destination Vancouver is excited to move forward with plans for the 20th anniversary of Dine Out Vancouver Festival for Winter 2022 running from January 14 – 31, 2022.

Dine Out Vancouver Festival 2021 attracted over 460,000 seated diner generating in excess of $22 million in revenue to restaurants over the 31-day run. 

Destination Vancouver and Community Partners will be investing in marketing and promotion of the festival with a digital and traditional media campaign valued in excess of $500K which generates media reach to an audience in excess of 48 million.

Registration is NOW OPEN.  The deadline to register is Friday, October 29th.

Below are important key dates:  

  • Registration Deadline: Friday, October 29, 2021
  • Menu / Offer Upload Deadline: Wednesday, December 8, 2021
  • Restaurant Reveal and Reservations Live: Thursday, January 6, 2022
  • Dine Out Vancouver Festival: January 14 - 31, 2022


Criteria for Participation:

Participation is open to restaurants in Metro Vancouver regardless of affiliation with Destination Vancouver. The registration fee is applicable to all restaurant locations.

PARTICIPATION RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

REGISTRATION DETAILS & FEES

The registration period deadline is Friday, October 29, 2021.

The registration fee is $200 + GST per participating restaurant location.  Registration fees are payable online and are due at time of registration.  Registration Fees are NOT REFUNDABLE.

Restaurants are required to select one or more options for menus.  Options are as follows:

  1. Restaurants may choose to offer a three-or-more-course menu in one of 4 PRICE RANGES.  Ranges are as follows:  $20-$29, $30-$39, $40-$49, $50-$59 AND/OR,
  2. Restaurants MAY offer a Dine Out TO GO package AND/OR,
  3. Restaurants MAY provide another promotional offer to attract customers*.
    *promotional offer includes a set menu at a fixed price outside of the existing ranges, 2 for 1 course, complimentary dish, complimentary glass of wine/beer or other value-add. NOTE: Restaurants offering “a special promotional offer” will not appear in the price-range search listings but rather a separate “special offers” section.
  4. Set menus must be a minimum of three courses per person.

Restaurants MAY organize and offer a special 20th anniversary dining event – following strict Public Health Order guidelines for events – in addition to their other offer. These culinary events (ex: sommelier dinner, cooking class or other unique event) will be marketed through dineoutvancouver.com.  Planning, organizing and ticketing are the full responsibility of the restaurant.  Revenue is retained by the restaurant in full.

RESERVATIONS

The official online reservations funding partner will be OpenTable.  Only OpenTable reservations links are permitted.  OpenTable will provide us with a unique reservations link that allows for aggregate volume tracking.  Any reservation fees charged by OpenTable will be the same as those charged through the restaurant’s own website.

If a restaurant uses another reservations system other than OpenTable,  guests will be directed to the restaurant’s website for generic online reservations (ex:www.restaurantabc.com/reservations)   Destination Vancouver will not accept reservations URL’s which identify any other platform. 

Restaurants are permitted to pre-charge for reservations or charge a no-show fee.

GIFT CARDS NOW REQUIRED

Restaurants MUST submit a gift card to their respective restaurant per the value schedule below, to be used for social media contesting, marketing, and ‘surprise & delight’ opportunities.

The gift certificate must not have an expiry date. The amount of the gift certificate will correspond to the menu price range in which you have registered. The amounts are as follows:

  • $20-$29 and $30-$39 price range restaurants to provide a $50 gift card
  • $40-$49 and $50-$59 price range restaurants to provide a $100 gift card
  • To Go package and “Promotional Offer” restaurants should follow the same guidelines. 

Note : You may provide additional gift cards, or a higher value, at your discretion, in order to generate more media attention for your restaurant.

All gift cards are due at registration.  Gift Cards must NOT have an expiry date.

I would like to coordinate a special dinner event (ex: Winery/Som Dinner) that will be promoted during the DOV Festival. NB: These are up to you to organize. We will promote the event on the DOV website but will not handle any ticketing.



TERMS & CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

By registering your restaurant to participate in the 2022 Dine OutTMVancouver Festival, you agree to the following terms and conditions of participation:

  1. You agree to adhere to all Provincial Health Order Regulations for Covid-19 up to and including vaccine passport validation as applicable. Restaurants who do not follow health guidelines and city regulations will be disqualified from participation.
  2. You agree to pay a $200 plus GST registration fee to participate. 
  3. Registration Fees are NOT REFUNDABLE.
  4. You agree to an official general reservation launch date of Thursday, January 6, 2022. The list of participating restaurants will be released to media and/or the public by, and at the discretion, of Destination Vancouver, and may be released in advance by Destination Vancouver only.
  5. You agree to not promote your participation in advance of release by Destination Vancouver or January 6, 2022 whichever is later, except in official Destination Vancouver sanctioned publications and as authorized by Destination Vancouver.
  6. You agree to not offer your Dine Out Vancouver or ANY similar prix-fixe menu for the period beginning January 1, 2022 until the official start of Dine Out Vancouver on January 14, 2022. You may not offer a Dine Out menu in advance of official Dine Out dates. Dine Out branded menus may be extended by one week past the festival end date at your discretion.
  7. You agree to submit your multi-course dinner menu (minimum 3 courses) via Destination Vancouver’s Extranet, including any beverage pairings recommendations, no later than Wednesday, December 8, 2021. Menus that are submitted after this date are not guaranteed to be posted live on dineoutvancouver.com for the January 6, 2022 launch date.
  8. You acknowledge and agree that Destination Vancouver reserves the right, at their sole discretion, to determine the restaurants participating in the Dine Out Vancouver Festival. Destination Vancouver further makes no representations or warranties with respect to your restaurant’s sales volumes or customer traffic that may result during the promotional period.
  9. You acknowledge that Destination Vancouver owns all trademarks with respect to the terms Dine Out, and Dine Out Vancouver.
  10. In consideration of your participation in the Dine Out Vancouver Festival and its sponsors, you agree not to participate in any other similar promotion during the promotional period defined as December 1 to February 6, 2022.
  11. Once the registration process is complete, you agree to honour your commitment to participate in Dine Out Vancouver Festival 2022.  Should you elect to not participate for any reason, registration fees will not be refunded.
  12. You agree to brief your staff on the event to ensure high quality, knowledgeable service for consumers, information of which you will be provided in advance of the festival.
  13. You agree to display all Dine Out Vancouver posters, decals, collateral print material, and any other DOVF materials provided to you by Destination Vancouver regardless of any corporate branding conflicts, for the duration of the festival.
  14. You agree that Destination Vancouver can name your restaurant as a Dine Out Vancouver Festival participant and include your logo or name in any promotional materials. You further agree that Destination Vancouver can provide restaurant contact details to any program sponsor or partner at its discretion.
  15. You agree to promptly resolve any significant customer complaints brought to your attention by Destination Vancouver.
  16. You agree to complete a post event survey as administered by Destination Vancouver which may include sharing aggregate reservations details to be used in the calculation of the festival’s economic impact.
